healingtouch-BIG2From concept to completion, Teresa works closely with her clients to bring an idea to reality. Her goal is to make sure that the process is as easy and cooperative as possible.  She listens to the expectations and the vision of the client and takes the project to completion through the following steps:

The Beginning

The client provides Teresa with information on sculpture size, budget and timing. Where applicable, the client makes available to the artist photographs of the subject.  When necessary, clients may request that Teresa travel to their home or place of business to meet the client and the person or people she will be sculpting and to view the place where the sculpture may be installed.

Artist’s Quote

Teresa provides a quote for the completed sculpture. The quote includes the estimated cost based on the sculpture’s unique design, size and proportion, which vary for each piece. The quote also outlines what the client should expect to receive as an end product.

Building the Clay Model

After administrative steps are complete, a down payment that equals one third of the total cost is paid and the creative work begins. The artist begins to create the initial sculpture in clay based on photographs, visuals or a real-life model.

Initial Review by Client

The client may visit the studio to review the clay sculpture or request photographs of the clay sculpture.  Then Teresa puts the final touches on the piece based on the client’s feedback.  Once the client has approved the clay sculpture, the second payment, that equals one-third of the total cost, is due to the artist.

Sculpture Goes to the Foundry

The approved clay sculpture is delivered to the foundry to be cast in bronze. Please read the description of the casting process in our “Creating a Bronze” section.

The Final Creation

Once the sculpture is complete, the final payment equal to the remaining amount of the quote is paid and Teresa provides the completed piece to the client.  The artist makes the arrangements for each client individually for the piece to be shipped, delivered or installed.  Teresa or those who work closely with her often oversee the installation process.

Take a look at our Testimonials section to read the compliments of those who have commissioned Teresa to create projects for their homes, corporate locations or public spaces.  The process may vary slightly due to the uniqueness of each piece, so please do not hesitate to contact Teresa with specific questions.

Just a few of Teresa’s most recognized commissions are: “Healing Touch” at McKee Hospital in Loveland, Colorado; “Lil’ Bo Peep” and “Lil’ Red Riding Hood” at R. W. Norton Art Gallery and Museum in Shreveport, Louisiana; “Star Struck” at University of South Alabama Children’s and Women’s Hospital, in Mobile, Alabama; “Hunter” at Memphis Botanic Gardens in Memphis, Tennessee; and “Turning Point” installed to honor the inventor of snowboarding, Sherman Poppen.
